To intensify the flavors already present, you may even want to smoke them with hickory wood. Also, letting your guests know that you’re offering “twice smoked ham” sounds more flattering.

For beginners…

Set your grill to 225 degrees. Remove the ham from the box and massage a few rubs of your choice over it while waiting for it to reach the right temperature. Do you remember the little glaze packet that came in the package? Replace it with the one I have in this recipe! Later, I will discuss that. In any case, cook the ham for two hours at 225F on the grill before adding flavor!

Add some flavor

In fact, you can smoke ham right away on the grill, but why not spice it up and make it stand out from the crowd? Place the ham in a foil pan (if you haven’t already) and add a cup of orange juice, a can of Dr. Pepper, and half the teriyaki sauce, pour each over the ham as the liquid drops to the pool in the foil pan after the ham has smoked for several hours at 225F.

I then made the decision to try my best to project confidence. I have to admit, made this fun! For this one, I made the choice to combine various ingredients in a sauce pan, including brown sugar, orange juice, teriyaki sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, chili powder, hot chocolate mustard, cloves, and cinnamon. Put on medium heat, remove when it starts to boil, and let it simmer for a few minutes to thicken.

I don’t blame you if you feel a little overwhelmed after reading a whole sentence of material. When a recipe has a lot of ingredients, I usually turn it down and move on. You probably already have a lot of these items in your kitchen, so you’re all set!

Back to Ham

Once your glaze is ready, return it to the double-smoked ham and gently transfer the pan juice to another container so you can use it as a glazing liquid later. Make the shower glaze all over the ham until the saucepan is empty as it is now in isolation. I suggest placing the ham under the broiler for a few minutes to achieve a caramelized effect as you will want the glaze to cook onto the meat.

NOTE: You can use a grill torch instead if you have one. More fun to achieve.
