- Use cold running tap water to clean pinto beans. Place all the ingredients in your pressure cooker: pinto beans, plain chicken stock, smoked ham hock, onion, garlic cloves, cumin powder, dried oregano, and black pepper.

- The valve must be set to ventilation. Lock the lid, then use tongs to remove the ham hock. Skin, bone, and cartilage are removed. Reintroduce ham to beans by chopping or shredding them.
- If desired, add a spoon or two of beans to a small bowl and mash with a fork or potato crusher. Add more stir to the pan. Serve with green onions on top.
Tips:
- Overnight, refrigerate the beans. The liquid will thicken the next day, during which the fat can be filtered from above.
- Beans can be reheated in the microwave with a bowl full or in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming.

- Select Saut from the menu. Pour the orange juice, the two cans of pineapple, along with the juice, into the pan liner before the pot display shows HOT. Stirring.
- Stir well after adding the mustard and cloves to the pan.
- Place the fat side of the ham in the pan. It could require trimmed sides for a snug fit. Next to the larger piece, place the piece you just cut.
- Over the ham, drizzle honey.
- Put the lid on the Instant Pot and turn the knob to the “Sealing” position.
- Stop using Sauce mode.
- To select 25 minutes, press the Meat, Manual or Pressure Cook button, followed by the + or – button (5-6 lb ham). If you have the option, be sure to cook on HIGH pressure.
- Reduce the time to 20 minutes if you have a 34-pound ham. A 7-8 pound ham requires an increase in cooking time of 30 minutes, while a 9-10 pound ham requires an increase of 35 minutes.
- Allow the pan to perform its Natural Pressure Release for 15 minutes after cooking is complete. After this time, turn the vent knob to release any residual pressure.
- Set the Instant Pot to Sauce if you want to use drips to make the sauce. Using an immersion blender, puree the pineapple. By mixing equal amounts of cold water and cornstarch, make a slurry. After stirring until the mixture is smooth, add the hot liquid. Stir fry the mixture continuously until it thickens into a gravy.
Are cooked smoked ham hocks available
Depending on how it’s made, ham hocks can be either fully cooked or uncooked. On packages of cooked hocks, it will usually show “perfectly cooked” or “double-cooked.” You can store the hock in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or until its “wear by” date if it is still vacuum sealed in its original packaging.
How do you prepare ham hocks and collard greens in an Instant Pot
- Greens should be washed, and the stems should be cut. Leafy greens can be put in a slow cooker.
- Add a pinch of salt, sugar, or sweetener (if using). Add broth and apple cider vinegar on top.
- Clean the ham hocks. Garnish vegetables with ham hocks.
- LOW 6-8 hours or HIGH 3-4 hours.
- Remove the meat from the slow cooker, grate it, then put it back in. To taste, add sugar, salt and pepper.
- In a pressure cooker, add stock. Add greens and stir. Salt, sugar or sweetener, and apple cider vinegar should also be added. On top, add the ham hock.
- Close the valve and lid. Cook for 30 minutes under high pressure. After the cooking time has elapsed, wait 10 minutes for the pressure to dissipate naturally before releasing the remaining pressure manually.
- Shred the meat, then return it to the pressure cooker after removing the ham hock. For taste, add sugar, salt and pepper.
How to cook ham hock and green beans in an Instant Pot
In the inner pot, add the chicken stock and ham hock. Secure the lid. Select the pork setting by pressing the push button. On the timer, press 60 minutes. Once the cooking is complete, allow the pressure to relax naturally for 15 minutes. Release all pressure as soon as possible. Once the hock is out and cool enough to handle, remove the skin, fat, and bone, then throw it away. Return the meat to the pressure cooker after tearing it. Add green beans, shallots, garlic, salt, pepper, and sliced red chilies.
Select the pressure function and lock the lid. Choose your vegetables, then set the timer for 2 minutes.
Once done, let the pressure dissipate naturally for three minutes. Release all pressure as soon as possible.
Lock the lid, stir gently, and let the beans soak in the liquid for at least 30 minutes before serving. If necessary, adjust the seasoning.

- To warm the pressure cooker, choose a brown or sauté color. Add the onions, celery, and carrots along with the butter or olive oil. For about 3 minutes, sauté until the onions are soft.
- Add the garlic and cook for about a minute, or until fragrant.
- Add the sorted and washed packets of seasonings, stock, and Great Northern beans to the pot. To blend, stir.
- To the pot, add the ham hock, shank, or bone.
