How To Cook Ham In An Instant Pot?

Cooking Honey Roasted Ham in Pressure Cooker is SO simple and fast!!!!
Step One: Prepare the Instant Pot
- Place the trivet in the inner pot of the pressure cooker.
- 1 cup of water should be added. For an 8 liter Instant Pot, use 1.5 cups.
- Place a foil sling on the trivet to help remove the ham once it’s done cooking.
Step Three: Prepare the Ham
- On a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, lay the ham.
- To make a bowl-like shape around the ham, fold the sides of the foil.
- Carefully separate the spiral ham slices so the glaze can penetrate the ham slices.
- Wrap the ham in foil and pour the glaze over it.
Step Four: Pressure Cook Ham
- Place the ham on the trivet.
- If using sling foil, secure it around the ham.
- Pressure Cook for 2 minutes per pound on high. If the ham is wrapped in foil, add 10 minutes to the total cooking time.
- After the cooking time has elapsed, let the pressure release naturally for at least 15 minutes before performing a quick release.
- Check the temperature in the house. When serving, your ham should be at 145 degrees. Remember, the ham is done; we just reheat it!
Step Five: Reduce Glaze (optional)
This ham has an excellent flavor profile and is sweet enough to eat right away. The ham has a strong pineapple and honey taste and is quite tasty. You can reduce the liquid that comes out of cooking directly in the pressure cooker if you want the gooey coating known as Honey Baked Ham.
- Remove your ham from the Instant Pot when the pressure has been released and place it on a large plate or bowl, still wrapped in foil.
- Remove the trivet from the inside of the pressure cooker and drain the water used to cook the honey-roasted ham.
- Return the inner pot to the pressure cooker and set the pressure cooker to Saute mode.
- Remove the cooked ham from the foil by gently peeling the paper away.
- Remove the ham from the foil packaging, leaving the liquid inside.
- Fill the pressure cooker with the given cooking liquid.
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water = 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water = 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water = 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water = 1
- Cook, stirring frequently, until the glaze has reduced by half, about 3-4 minutes.
- Over the ham, pour the thick glaze.
In an Instant Pot, how do you reheat a fully cooked ham
- Since the spiral ham slices are done, you just need to reheat them.
- Cook your ham under high pressure for 2 minutes per pound plus 10 minutes to allow the foil. This will heat the ham completely and prevent it from drying out.
- To change the time, press the manual button and use the +/- buttons. Make sure your pressure cooker is set to HIGH.
- Use 1 glaze recipe for 3 pound ham and cook for 6 minutes + 10 minutes to produce foil (or 16 minutes total)
- Use 1 glaze recipe for a 4 pound ham and heat for 8 minutes + 10 minutes to account for the foil (or 18 minutes)
- Cook for 10 minutes + 10 minutes to count the foil on a 5 pound ham using one glaze recipe (or 20 minutes)
- Double glaze recipe for 6 pound ham and heat for 12 minutes + 10 minutes to accommodate foil (or 22 minutes)
- 7 pounds ham: double glaze recipe and cook for 14 minutes plus 10 minutes for foil (or 24 minutes)
- 8 pounds of ham: double glaze recipe and cook for 16 minutes plus 10 minutes for foil (or 26 minutes)
In an Instant Pot, how long should I cook spiral ham
Cover the instant pot and cook for 2 minutes per pound of ham on high pressure, plus 10 minutes for the foil. (I used a 7 pound ham which takes 24 minutes to cook.) Make sure the ham reaches 145 degrees F on the inside.
Is it possible to cook cooked ham in an Instant Pot
Honey Baked Ham is a family favorite! This is ham that has been cooked in spiral slices with a crunchy sweet coating. (It’s a bit of a splurge, but it’s worth it.) During the holidays, the line for Honey Baked Ham often stretches for an hour or more.)
However, you can use your Instant Pot to reheat pre-cooked ham, sliced, bone or boneless, glazed or unglazed.
The majority of ham sold in supermarkets is pre-cooked. They are usually salted or cured. Raw ham branded “fresh ham” is much less common.

- Do you want to know how long it takes to cook fresh ham?
Honey Baked Ham should be served at room temperature as it is pre-cooked.
(For the record, they claim the ham will reach room temperature in 30 minutes at the counter.) I’m not sure who’s counter turned it on, but my ham never reached room temperature in 30 minutes…)
In the Instant Pot, how to cook glazed ham
- Cover the ham with 1/2 of the glaze mixture and place on a trivet. Cook for 10 minutes on high pressure with the lid closed.
- After 10 minutes, gently release the pressure (use oven mitts or a dish cloth).
- Carefully remove from the pan and place on a plate. The liquid must be drained from the pot.
- Melt 1/2 stick of butter in Instant Pot stir fry mode.
- Add the ham once it’s melted. Fry each side until evenly browned.
- Cut and place on a plate.
What’s the best way to reheat cooked ham without drying out
This ham is very cold, but the instructions for heating it are usually on the package. Place the chopped ham on heavy-duty aluminum foil and wrap tightly. Alternatively, use an oven toaster bag and prepare according to the bag’s instructions. Bake for 10-14 minutes per pound in the preheated 325F oven, or until the meat thermometer reaches 135F. Before serving, remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes. If the ham came with an extra glaze, add it and cook according to package recommendations. Turn the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, brush the ham with the glaze, and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the glaze is golden and bubbling. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing to serve.

Spiral Ham: How to Cook It Without Drying It
- Remove the spiral ham from its packaging and set aside the liquid.
- To prevent the pan from drying out, pour the juice from the packet to the bottom.
- Wrap the spiral ham in foil tightly so that no steam escapes.
- Preheat oven to 350F and position rack in center.
Does spiral ham have to be thawed before cooking
Answer: Yes, as the US Department of Agriculture points out, you can cook frozen meats, including ham, in the oven without defrosting them first. However, you must take the extra cooking time into account. Cooking frozen ham takes about 50 percent longer than cooking completely thawed ham.
What’s the best way to reheat cooked ham
In a roasting pan, place the ham. At the bottom of the pan, pour a little water. At the bottom of the pan, some recipes call for cola or, my personal favourite, Vernors.
Place the spirally sliced ham into the cut pan face down. Wrap the foil around the plate tightly. Reheat in the 325F oven until an internal temperature of 135F to 140F is reached. You can also use an oven bag to keep the ham warm. Reheating should take no more than 10 minutes per pound.
Cut the skin of the ham that is cooked (again, check the label) and don’t slice it into spirals. Make diamond cross marks along the fat layer. Bake until heated through and the internal temperature reaches 135 degrees in a 325-350 degree oven. Again, no more than 10 minutes per pound is recommended. It will take 1 hour and 20 minutes to catch 8 pounds. If you prefer, brush the ham with pan juice or glaze as it cooks.
