How to defrost bacon quickly?

Using cold water to defrost bacon is one of the quickest and most effective methods. This approach is reliable and safe, despite the fact that it will take some time.

Place the frozen bacon in a waterproof plastic bag to do this. Make sure the top of the bag is tightly closed before placing it in the sink or bowl of cold water.

The water level should be high enough to cover the watertight bag. This is a natural, fast, and consistent approach to defrosting bacon.

  • If you’re using a frying pan, start on low heat until it warms up, then increase the heat to a crisp.

If you’re using a skillet, prepare a paper towel-lined plate as the oil won’t drain otherwise. Remove the egg pieces and serve with them, or crush them and add them to your morning Crockpot breakfast dish!

Individually frozen steaks, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, and 1-pound packets of ground beef, for example, are great thawed this way. Larger portions of meat will take longer to thaw and thus will spend too much time in the hot water. That’s when germs will start multiplying at an alarming rate.

Second, raw frozen meat should only be soaked in hot water for a maximum of 30 minutes. Any longer than that allows bacteria to overgrow in the meat.

Third, and most importantly, meat thawed in this way must be thoroughly cooked to ensure that any bacteria that start to grow are removed before it has a chance to multiply.

Finally, drain and add extra hot water a few times to keep the water hot and allow the meat to thaw quickly. Otherwise, the frozen bacon will act as an ice cube and cool too quickly, requiring too much time in the water.

This method can be used to defrost one 16 oz. Pack bacon in its original packaging or in a sealed top zip bag: Fill the sink halfway with hot tap water. Then add the bacon packets. Drain the water and replace it with fresh hot water after about 10 minutes. Bacon will most likely be defrosted in 10 minutes. If not, drain the water and replace with hot water, leaving the bacon for no more than 10 minutes.
