Regular cut bacon can be air fried at 350F for 7-9 minutes, or until desired crispness. Air fry thick-cut bacon for 10-12 minutes.

Why should you never cook bacon in an air fryer

If you’ve had problems with bacon smoke from your air fryer in the past, it’s possible that the temperature inside the air fryer is too high, or there’s extra fat inside the air fryer that gets stuck in the heating elements as the fan circulates the air.

  • Bacon fat has a smoke point of 400 degrees Fahrenheit, so you should be fine below that.
  • On the other hand, the air fryer has another feature to consider. In an air fryer, bacon will splatter at temperatures above 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease may splash on the heating element, creating fumes.
  • If your air fryer starts to smoke, chances are there is some old oil or residue in the air fryer that is causing it to burn.

As long as I remove excess grease from the air fryer between batches, I’ve never had a problem with air fryer bacon smoke.

If you’re in doubt about bacon smoke, I read that a slice of bread can be placed in the air fryer basket to absorb excess grease.

If your air fryer starts to smoke, do not continue cooking. Remove food from the oven and finish cooking on the stovetop or oven.

Is it nasty to cook bacon in the air fryer

Roasting bacon in the oven is one of my favorites because you can make a large batch at a time for less than frying bacon on the stove, and it’s a plug-and-play thing. However, it does take longer than regular frying.

But when I need a small amount of bacon soon, I start frying it in the air fryer and it’s amazing. Bacon cooks fast and crispy in the air fryer. It’s also much cleaner than frying on the stove. And I find the air fryer is really easy to clean, just wipe or rinse it off and move on. Air frying bacon is one of my favorite things to do.

What is the best air fryer?

I believe it comes down to personal choice and requirements. I saw one that was rated #1, but it was over $300. I didn’t want to spend that much on a new device, so when it came to the air fryer, I went with the Ninja 4-Qt Air Fryer, which is “Amazon’s Choice.” It’s fantastic. The only thing I would change next time is to buy a bigger capacity. I have a large family and 4 qt is simply not enough. I was pleasantly surprised by how often I use my air fryer and am glad I purchased one. It cooks quickly, is easy to handle, and everything is crispy. I’ll never bake potatoes in the oven again; for me, it’s all about the air fryer!

Tips for cooking bacon in the air fryer:

  • I find thick cut bacon works best in the air fryer because it doesn’t curl or get thrown away like thin cut bacon.
  • Don’t be afraid to take a peek inside the air fryer while it’s cooking to see how it goes. If the bacon moves too much while cooking, just use tongs to reposition the bacon in a single layer.

What can’t you do with an air fryer

Wet batter should not be put in the air fryer unless the item has been pre-fried and frozen. Aside from the obvious mess, the wet batter doesn’t solidify like soaking in oil, so the food doesn’t have that crunchy crust. If you want to make the food a little more crumbly, coat the food with flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Don’t miss this simple trick for a beautiful golden finish in the air fryer every time.

Yes, you can use aluminum foil in your air fryer, as long as you use it safely and avoid covering critical parts of the machine, which can cause uneven cooking or even damage. Make sure to use just enough to cover the bottom of the basket or wrap the food in it. Foods that are too light or too acidic should not be placed. Use parchment paper if possible. This is a more secure and user-friendly product.
