What’s the best way to cook Berkshire ham

Ham can be eaten cold at room temperature or heated, with or without glaze, as it is fully cooked.

Bring ham to room temperature before heating. Take it out of the refrigerator at least an hour before you plan to heat it up. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place the ham fat side up on a rack on a heavy-bottomed baking sheet. Fill a pan with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of water or other liquid of your choice.

Cover the ham with a piece of parchment paper and wrap in aluminum foil. Heat in the oven until it reaches about 140 degrees (about 10 minutes per pound of ham). To do this, use an oven-safe probe thermometer and insert it into the thickest part of the ham without touching the bone. To make a spiral ham, simply place the cut side down on a sheet of heavy duty foil. Wrap the ham tightly in foil and bake at 300F until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham reads 140F.
