Wendy’s Bacon Double Stack and $5 Biggie Bag were originally available in March 2019. On toast, there are two Jr. beef patties, applewood smoked bacon, sliced American cheese, ketchup, mustard, crinkle-cut pickles and onions.
The Bacon Double Burger is $3.99 in my area (price may vary), but it’s also available as part of the $5 Biggie Bag, which includes the burger, 4 chicken nuggets (regular or spicy) , a handful of chips, and a small fountain drink.

This week, I asked Wendy’s for a “$4 for $4” meal…but which sandwich should I order with four chicken nuggets, small fries, and a drink?
Double Stack, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Go-Wrap, Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, Crispy Chicken BLT, Junior Cheeseburger, Spicy Go-Wrap and Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe are the eight sandwiches (or “entrees”) on Wendy’s large plate.
Let’s start with the double stack sandwich, which is the meatiest sandwich and, in my opinion, has the best value.

It’s a question of value. Wendy’s Double Stack is the only sandwich in the Value Package that includes two pies, all made with Wendy’s signature, never-frozen North American beef. These patties, like Wendy’s Big Boy Burgers, are square.
The Double Stack is a lean, no-frills, very tasty burger with beef as the main attraction and minimal condiments and garnishes. This is a positive development. Some of the fancier new burgers cost three times as much and are stuffed with bacon, imported cheese and vegetables, making beef hard to spot (or find).
This is not the case with dual stacks. There is no lettuce, tomato or mayo in this sandwich. Wendy’s is best to remove the red onion slices as well. I throw them around. So Double Stack’s Double Beef solves a problem: which one to order for Wendy’s “$4 for $4” sandwich.
At the same time, it raises a bigger question. If you order the Double Stack a la carte, it will cost you $1.89. If Double Stack offers a quarter pound of beef for $1.89, why would anyone pay $4.29 for Wendy’s famous “Dave’s Single,” which also has a quarter pound of beef?
Dave’s Single includes a 4-ounce meatloaf, two slices of American cheese, lettuce and tomato, served on a larger loaf.
In other words, an extra slice of cheese, lettuce, and tomato, and a larger loaf of bread cost an extra $2.
Wendy’s 4 to 4 is exactly what it sounds like.
