JBS USA in Colorado also bought them. However, the company continues to operate as a separate entity with its bacon production site in Elkhard, Indiana.
Elkhard is approximately 150 miles from Aldi’s US headquarters in Batavia, Illinois. I wouldn’t be shocked if Aldi and Swift continued to collaborate on bacon today.

In their freezers, Aldi sells a variety of bacon under the Appleton Farms, Never Any and Ole Carolina labels. Aldi’s bacon comes in a variety of cuts, flavors and price points, starting at $2.59 for basic cuts and $6.79 for premium cuts.
Who owns Appleton Farms
The Reserve Trustees own and maintain Appleton Farms, a park near Ipswich, Massachusetts. In 1998, the property was transferred to the trustee. Donated by the town of Ipswich to Samuel Appleton in 1638, the land is one of the oldest continuously operating farms in Massachusetts. The Reserve Trustees launched a community-supported vegetable farming program in 2002.
Is Appleton Farms an Aldi owned store
ALDI is one of my favorite stores. I prefer shopping at ALDI to shopping at other grocery stores. There are always surprises waiting for you to discover. On takraw brussels sprouts? Check. (I didn’t know they were grown that way.) Some weird German-made noodle taste? Check.
It also makes it worse, like when you find out how much you love hot smoked salmon and can’t find it. ALDIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
So, that’s my obsession, and you, poor thing, have to deal with it on a regular basis, coming into the site in the form of a feature that I refuse to name anything other than I ate ALDI.
Appleton Farms Gourmet Deli Picks
I’m not going to sit here and tell you that all cooked food is the same. First, I can’t see your eyes. However, the quality of cooked food varies widely. However, even low-quality cured meats are delicious.
As one of ALDI’s 10 billion private labels, Appleton Farms is focused on meat. (They’re sometimes combined with Never Any!, a brand that’s free of antibiotics and hormones.) Buy a whole precooked turkey breast or a whole spiral-cut ham and slice and dice as needed.
But it’s the delicious unhealthy gourmet deli option that I return time and time again. Pepper salami, hot capoccolo, and hot calabrese are the ingredients.
(Interesting? Fact: Capocollo is pronounced inconsistently. Tony is often called gabagool in The Sopranos.)
Pepper salami won’t improve your life. If Oscar Meyer packaged it with processed turkey round slices, you’d be introduced. I think it’s a little odd that they call it “pepped” when it’s not even covered in pepper. But if you put it on a turkey sandwich, it adds just the right amount of heat and spice to keep the sandwich interesting.
Capocollo is probably my favorite non-sandwich ingredient, although it’s also delicious in sandwiches. If you have crunchy pears and delicious ripe cheese, pack a little of each in this slice of pork and you’ll be sending letters to friends and colleagues from Flevotown, USA.
While salami is a type of sausage, capocollo is made from intact neck muscles, which explains why the fat portion is similar in each slice. The texture is a little thin because of the muscles, but it’s still delicious.
Hot Calabrese is a pork salami that takes its name from the Calabria region of southern Italy, where the recipe is popular and known for its high calorie content. This deep red salami made from Calabrese peppers has loads of spice.
If you make it at home, chop it up, sauté it to oil some of the fat, then add it to pasta sauce or use it as a pizza topping.
You can use it in place of the pepperoni salami in sandwiches and get similar results, but for a little more.
I recommend taking omeprazole or whatever antacid you use before eating any of these. These cutlets are great, but they repeat over the next 12 to 24 hours.
Where does Lidl’s bacon come from
The UK-based Great Taste Awards praised Lidl’s Glensallagh Pale Striped Bacon from Co Tipperary, saying it was “near perfect”. Good Food Guild awards are given to specific products that have been blind tested in supermarkets in the UK and Ireland.

Breakfast is served at Aldi. There are many. cereals. Egg. sausage. To be precise, hash browns. Even pre-cooked dishes are acceptable. For low-stock stores, Aldi has a pretty good first-meal variety, and in some cases plenty of alternatives. This is just the regular buy area; add the occasional ALDI Find (special buy) and the range expands even more.
Few things are more legendary in American morning lore than bacon. Bacon, more than any other breakfast meat, has become a cult in itself, bordering on an obsession. You don’t need to look at Google bacon memes to really grasp this. On the other hand, health research isn’t kind to bacon, so it’s probably a food best enjoyed in moderation.
ALDI offers some bacon as regular purchases and regularly adds other bacon as ALDI finds (special purchases). It’s a dab in the middle of the bacon possibilities.
Appleton Farms Sliced Bacon is a regular Aldi product available in the refrigerated section of grocery stores. It comes in a 12 oz vacuum sealed plastic package with a cardboard sleeve. (We bought it in our Instacart experiment.) Prices fluctuate, but we find this bacon is usually cheaper than what we can find elsewhere.
Most people don’t need instructions for bacon, but this package includes frying pan, microwave, and oven instructions. It recommends frying on low heat and stirring regularly until it reaches the “desired crispness”, then blotting with absorbent paper towels. Microwave the bacon, wrap in a paper towel, and place on a microwave-safe plate. Cook on high for 1 1/2 minutes for 2 slices, 2 1/2 to 3 minutes for 4 slices, or 3 1/2 to 4 minutes for 6 slices. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, then use flat pan, bake without rotation for 10-15 minutes, then drain on absorbent cloth, oven instructions.
Our bacon is almost always deep fried, which is a bit of an art because bacon can easily be overcooked. We microwave bacon in a pinch, but we’ve never baked bacon before.
We can only say good things about Appleton Farms bacon. It cooks quickly, doesn’t shrink like bacon in a pan, and is light and crisp. At least in our opinion, the hardwood smoky flavor of this version is exactly right and not overpowering.

Bottom Line: Aldi’s Appleton Farms Spiral Cut Double Glazed Ham is a great centerpiece for a holiday feast or any special occasion. It’s meat is tender and delicious. Highly recommend it.
